MORE THAN HOWARD THE DUCK'S COMIC BOOK ARTIST VAL MAYERIK !!!

Val Mayerik, a comic book and commercial artist, is probably most remembered for co-creating Howard the Duck (with writer Steve Gerber.) He worked as an assistant to Dan Atkins along with P. Craig Russell (Killraven.)

With Marvel Comics, Mayerik's first full job was on Creatures on the Loose #22 featuring Lin Carter's Thongor.

Howard the Duck spun off his job on Man-Thing. With Doug Moench, Val worked on Sherlock Holmes' Hound of the Baskervilles in Marvel Preview #6.

Along with that, Mayerik worked on Ka-Zar and a back-up feature for Zabu.

Val went on to work for Warren, on Creepy, Eerie and Vampirella & Heavy Metal.

Mayerik worked with Larry Hama on Young Master for New Comics Group.

Val continued to draw comic books for Now, Pacific, Eclipse & First Comics. He even went on to illustrate with Harvey Pekar on American Splendor. As well, he worked on a Magic: The Gathering: The Shadow Mage mini-series for Acclaim Comics.

Mayerik has not worked in the comics field for some time and is now a commercial artist in advertising for Coca Cola & Microsoft and in the games industry working for such companies as TSR, Inc and Wizards of the Coast.

I remember Val mainly for Sensei, Young Master & Void Indigo. I miss his raw, eastern flair in comic book art.

Live Large!

Thank You.
