FIRST DOC SAVAGE, MAN OF BRONZE, IN THE SILVER AGE OF COMIC BOOKS !!!

One of my first exposures to Doc Savage was in the comics, specifically Gold Key Comics, one of my favorites growing up.

In 1966 Gold Key came out with a Doc Savage comic book. The script was written by Leo Dorfman (Supergirl, M.A.R.S. Patrol), based on the novel The Thousand Headed Man by Kenneth Robeson (Lester Dent). The art provided by Jack Sparling (Tiger Girl.)

In this story, Doc & his team search for the three keys which will lead to the Thousand-Headed Man. Gold Key designed the comic book as a tie-in to a movie that was never made. Chuck Conners would have made a great Doc Savage.

Doc Savage has been around, DC, Marvel (both comic & magazine), Dark Horse, Millennium & Dynamite.

Doc Savage's exploits were also reprinted by Bantam Books in a long running series of single novels, double novels & finishing in a few omnibus editions. Man, those James Bama covers were the best at grabbing your attention, but don't forget, we also had Boris Vallejo & Bob Larkin as well.

Currently, an all-new series of Doc Savage novels are still going strong. Thanks to Will Murray at the helm, it's high quality & true to the heritage of Lester Dent.

Doc Savage still goes strong with the pulp reprints and now Dynamite producing new adventures in the comics, with some awesome covers I must say.

Live Large My Friends!

Thank You!
